Abstract: Solar Photovoltaic panel based street lighting systems are becoming more common these days. But the limitation with these ordinary street light systems is that it lacks intelligent performance. It is very essential to automate the system so that we can conserve energy as well as to maximize the efficiency of the system. In this paper a new method is suggested so as to maximize the efficiency of the street lighting system and to conserve the energy usage by the system with the help of ZIGBEE and sensors. It uses a sensor combination to control and guarantee the desired system parameters. The information is transferred point by point using ZIGBEE transmitters and receivers and is sent to the control terminal used to check the state of the street lamps and hence we can take immediate actions if required.
